Marine marvels

by Julia Jardine

Since going snorkelling for a couple of days in the Philippines in May 2025 (prior to attending the A Rocha Family Forum), I have been quietly obsessed with swimming and snorkelling. In mid-January I was excited to snorkel in Port Philip Bay, the bay on which Melbourne is located. We saw some breathtaking marine life not far from shore. This included pot-bellied seahorses, endemic eleven-armed sea stars, a huge stingray and a beautiful nudibranch sea slug. Will definitely be doing this again and I’m inspired to learn more about the marine life on our doorstep.
