Andrew grew up in Sydney in a family that enjoyed exploring the seashore and national parks around NSW and New Zealand. He has worked for some thirty five years as an academic and university leader in Australia, the United States and Indonesia and has been an advisor to governments and companies around the Asia-Pacific region. He is a member of the Third Order of the Society of St Francis and, together with his wife, Ella Whateley, is keenly engaged in Creation Care at their property in Bunga, on the far south coast of NSW.
