Warwick grew up on a farm in central Victoria and was an active birdwatcher in the surrounding national park. He has been a Christian for 50 years and currently worships at Hume Ridge Church of Christ in Toowoomba. He is married to Vicki and they have three adult children.

He has spent over 40 years working in sustainable agriculture in Australia and internationally. His qualifications include a Bachelors in Rural Science from the University of New England, a Masters and PhD in Agricultural Education from the University of Illinois and training in computer science and theology from the University of South Africa.

The first half of his career was spent with the Queensland government providing technical advice to farmers. The second half was spent with the World Agroforestry Center in Kenya and the World Vegetable Center in Taiwan and India running agricultural development projects to improve the livelihoods of impoverished farmers.

For the last six years he has worked on projects to reduce tropical deforestation and biodiversity loss with IDH-The Sustainable Trade Initiative based in the Netherlands. His work in fundraising and partnership development helps develop more sustainable agricultural practices and more just markets to improve farmer livelihoods and reduce environmental destruction.
